BACKGROUND

BIOGRAPHY OF ELLIE SHAW

As President of Shaw Media Consulting, Ellie Shaw focuses on strengthening client communications on websites or blogs, in social media or interviews. She specializes in website project management for small to medium businesses.

Ellie’s insights into audiences and how to reach them most effectively have helped clients since 2004. She’s dedicated to communicating clearly and effectively and that’s become the hallmark of all the projects she handles.

Ellie began her career as a reporter and rose to serve as a Senior Editor at the newspapers below. She went on to become the national Employee Communications Manager for The McClatchy Co., where she supervised Internet content, press releases and published its quarterly magazine.

As a Media Trainer, Ellie worked for clients such as Intel, California AAA and the California Department of Health Services. In addition to teaching interview skills, Ellie helped clients formulate strategic media plans and crisis communications strategies.

Outside of work, Ellie is an active volunteer. She's a former Chair of the Board of Directors of Safety Center Inc. in Sacramento, CA and was a "Student Buddy" more than 10 years. Ellie is an active member of the Sacramento Metro Chamber of Commerce and  was named its Ambassador of the Year for 2011-12. She's also an avid wine enthusiast and dotes on her rescued dogs.

NATIONAL NEWSPAPER EXPERIENCE

BackgroundEllie Shaw was a charter member of the staff at USA Today, one of the four major newspapers she served as an editor.

From The Miami Herald's City Desk, Ellie supervised coverage of everything from criminal courts to space flights to riots.

She was a prize-winning Business Editor at The News-Journal in the corporate-savvy state of Delaware and later held the same post at The Sacramento Bee.

Ellie spent years covering government and politics in three states, most notably as Capital Bureau Chief in Dover, Delaware and as Capital News Editor in Sacramento.
